The Matrix Trilogy
We’re not even going to touch this one, given the enormous depth and breadth of issues raised. The original Matrix does have some rather excellent philosophical content. In movies 2 & 3, this is mostly overshadowed by overzealous CGI characters gratuitously blasting one another to smithereens.
However, it is certainly worth a gander. If you would like an in-depth analysis, goodsearch it, since every codewriter/uber-nerd on earth has their own theory. For a more dated interpretation, check out Plato’s Allegory of The Cave.
The Matrix trilogy also raises some interesting ethical questions concerning robotics: let’s not forget how Keanu’s body ended up in a goo-filled pod in the first place. It’s old but ongoing news, so if robots are your thing, click here for an interesting piece from the BBC; and click here for Asimov’s three laws of robotics.

Brain in a vat is one of those theories that just can’t be dispelled. Even when Fishburn gives him red and blue pills, there could always be a green pill that even the robots are yet to digest.
Or this movie and the entire universe could be contained within one solipsist.
I love to imagine I’m my own evil daemon.
